CARNIVAL MOVING 2 SHIPS TO HOUSTON. Carnival Cruise Lines’ two Galveston-based ships, the Carnival Conquest and Carnival Ecstasy, will operate out of nearby Houston while Galveston recovers from damage caused by Hurricane Ike. Beginning this weekend from the Port of Houston’s Bayport Cruise Terminal, the 2,052-passenger Ecstasy will resume its four- and five-day Mexico cruises, while the 2,974-passenger Conquest will run its seven-day cruises to the western Caribbean. Both vessels are currently in New Orleans, where they were deployed following the closure of Galveston’s cruise terminal. The Conquest and Ecstasy will arrive in Houston on Sept. 18 and Sept. 19, respectively, to disembark passengers who chose to remain onboard while the ships waited out the storm in New Orleans.
