Carnival Cruise Line News
Carnival Cruise Lines’ 2,974-passenger Carnival Freedom, originally scheduled to operate six- and eight-day Caribbean cruises from Ft. Lauderdale, on a seasonal basis, will now operate the program year-round, following the conclusion of its 2008 Mediterranean program in October. The line has opened bookings for the Freedom’s year-round Caribbean cruises.Carnival will not replace the Freedom with another ship in Europe but the Carnival Liberty will sail its 2009 Europe cruise schedule.
Carnival Freedom’s year-round schedule from Ft. Lauderdale begins Nov. 22, with six-day cruises departing Sundays to Key West, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, while eight-day voyages departing Saturdays alternate to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
Eight-day Eastern Caribbean voyages visit San Juan, St. Thomas/St. John, Antigua, Tortola/Virgin Gorda, and Nassau. Western Caribbean cruises include Cozumel, Limon, and Colon.
According to Lynn C. Torrent, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and guest services, while the plan had been for Carnival Freedom to return to Europe in 2009, the strong performance of the line’s entire Caribbean fleet made the new six- and eight-day deployment a compelling choice. www.1Cheapcruise.com
